Compliance
It’s not really news that government and government-funded organizations are highly accountable not only for the proper use of funds, but also for delivering the results that using those funds were intended to achieve.
We use “compliance” as a broad term to cover everything needed from the beginning to the end of a housing project, as a way to ensure that what’s supposed to happen, does happen, and to provide remedies and accountability for when they don’t. Most housing activities are long-term propositions — even developing a new property takes several years. But, you’ll want assurances and recourse for most housing that you assist to last 10, 15, 30 or more years.
Achieving compliance requires all of the following:
Upfront diligence and development of detailed contractual arrangements
Long-term monitoring
Enforcement mechanisms, record-keeping and follow-up
